An idea blossomed, opportunities emerged
& No88 was born.
John & I came to Shetland after years of working & travelling around the world.
My family are Shetland folk and I was drawn back by the natural beauty of the Islands. I knew my wanderlust was over and Shetland had called me home.
Being in Shetland and having grown up as the daughter of a Fisherman, I really wanted to dine out on fresh simply cooked fish.
Where was all the fish? Halibut,Plaice,Lemon Sole, Hake, Monk?
Surprisingly,We couldn't find a restaurant in Lerwick that was serving simply grilled local fish.
Living an Island life sometimes means you have to take a trip "South".
It was during one of our trips that we spotted SHETLAND SEAFOOD stamped, fish boxes being unloaded into a restaurant..
We looked at each other & said "There it is, there's all our seafood, it's here in London & not in the restaurants in Lerwick". We knew at that exact moment, standing on Kings Street in Hammersmith ,that things had to change
